Fruit Splash! Several fruit-shaped rigid bodies fall into a Lattice Boltzmann fluid simulation, creating numerous nonspherical bubbles. See the supplemental video for sound comparisons across bubble-frequency models.
Five fruits are dropped into a water tank. The synthesized audio captures the characteristic “plop” of each impact, followed by a gurgling decay. A wide variety of bubble shapes form during impact, and our frequency model captures the higher-pitched gurgles from large deformed bubbles, whereas Minnaert's spherical assumption systematically underpredicts.
